NAUGLES BARN-RAISING SUPPER

Hallockville’s Naugles Barn, built in 1937, is an iconic North Fork landmark. In July of 2023, the Museum Farm was awarded a $500,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to support an adaptive reuse of the barn. We have applied for a separate $500,000 matching grant and are actively seeking private donations as we prepare to begin this exciting restoration in November.

The renovation will not only include accessible bathrooms, but, with an HVAC system in place, we will be able to offer events and programs in the barn all year round. Having a community space like this will be a game-changer for Hallockville!

To amplify our fundraising efforts, we will hold our first annual Barn-Raising Supper on Thursday, August 22 from 6-9 pm. This rustically elegant farm-to-table supper –– on the farm, the evening meal was always called a “supper” –– will present a delicious array of hyper-local bounty and will honor former Board President Alfonso Martinez-Fonts for his outstanding leadership and preservation of the museum farm.

The event will feature a lovely exhibition and auction of art and photographic depictions of the scenic Hallockville campus. Guests will be entertained by a re-enactment of the Naugles’ rum-running escapades during Prohibition while enjoying a delicious rum cocktail, local wine and beer. A unique selection of experiential auction items will round out the evening.
