GUEST SPEAKER: MARY KORPI

The Lady Lighthouse Keeper is Mary Korpi’s first historical fiction book. It is based on the life of Stella Prince the only woman to serve as a keeper at Horton Point Lighthouse. Mrs.Korpi’s interest in Stella was piqued while working as a volunteer docent at the lighthouse. Stella’s story was not previously known so she began researching life in the late 1800’s on the North Fork. Through her research she had the opportunity to meet many local residents who generously shared their time and knowledge. A recent retiree to this bucolic area on Long Island writing The Lady Lighthouse was a terrific way to spend time during lockdown.
