Sound Avenue Stitchers
The Sound Avenue Stitchers is a small, friendly group created for sharing and continuing fiber arts traditions. Fiber arts include sewing, quilting, needlepoint, macrame, weaving, felting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, rug hooking, basket weaving and more. Our group’s mission is to share techniques, innovations and products, upcoming events and shops pertaining to fiber arts, and to socialize while working on our own projects. We may have demonstrations by fellow stitchers and create items for donation.
The Stitchers meet at Hallockville Museum Farm, in the Hudson-Sydlowski House meeting room, on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please join us for all things fiber arts and for fun conversations!

History of the Stitchers
1970s-1980s
Sound Avenue Quilters
This group of ladies lived in the Sound Avenue corridor and got together in each other’s homes. They helped each other hand-quilt quilts. Some of the quilts were made of blocks sewn many years earlier by a family member, some quilts were made by the ladies in the group or were a group project. They got together the demonstrate hand quilting on a frame at many local events and shared their knowledge with the public and each other.

Sound Avenue Stitchers
The name of this group honors the ladies of the Sound Avenue Quilters! Their tradition of getting together to sew, share news and recipes, and just commune with each other is something the Sound Avenue Stitchers believe we all crave in this busy world.
