***SOLD OUT***Take a step back in time with Hallockville Museum Farm and learn about cooking from the 1700’s through the 1800’s. In this hands-on adventure, participants will learn about the necessity of proper wood, what ingredients were available through these time periods and how open fire cooking transitioned to the hearth and ultimately the cast iron stove. You’ll take turn cooking over the open fire (outside) and on our homestead cast iron stove (inside) and also learn to use authentic cooking tools and equipment. Time honored recipes will be used and a communal meal shared upon the conclusion of this workshop!
Homesteaders, off gridders, sustainable livers, doomsdayers, history lovers, cooking and food lovers are all welcome! Ages 18 and over. Please dress warmly in natural fibers, leather shoes and an appetite to learn!
