Due to the slippery conditions and cold forecast this meeting will be via ZOOM. If you wish to participate email [email protected]
Following a time‐honored tradition, join us for a little time to recharge, meet like-minded needleworkers, have some tea, share your work, and get inspired in a relaxed country setting!
Looking forward to 2024! We have a Get Together January 20, next Saturday from 10-1, in the Hudson House classroom.
February is National Embroidery month and Feb 3 is Stitch in Public Day (which we will celebrate February 17 at our usual Get Together)To celebrate the month we will also be setting up an embroidery exhibit in the classroom.About Stich-in-Public Day:
Embroidery Guild of America celebrates needle arts with a Stitch-In-Public Day in February each year. The primary focus of Stitching-In-Public is to share our passion for needle arts with the public by demonstrating our talents. Many chapters host their own Stitch-In-Public days throughout the year at major book stores, coffee shops, libraries, museums and other locations where EGA members can share our love of needle arts with non-members.
We have a few projects to get rolling this year.
Collection Repro quilt: Currently we are gathering fabrics to reproduce the nine-patch quilt that is displayed in the homestead. e have a few more fabrics to find but we can get moving cutting fabric January 20.
2025 – 50th Museum Anniversary hand applique raffle quilt: We received a started Baltimore style applique quilt from Elizabeth Buniskis Husband and friend Alice. It seems like a shame to not finish the quilt in the spirit in which it was started. To honor Liz and the art of hand applique we will be using her plan and nine finished blocks as the beginning point to create a truly special quilt to benefit Hallockville Museum Farm in 2025. If you wish to participate, let Connie know. If you have any orphan finished applique floral type blocks you would like to add, also let Connie know. We will need to draw up a schedule to ensure it gets done and quilted to start the raffle by early Spring of 2025.
Traditional Craft classes: We are always looking for people to teach embroidery or quilting classes (mainly hand skills at this point-as our classroom is small). If you wish to teach at the museum also talk to me.
May 18 Fleece & Fiber Festival: we will again be manning the Hudson house during FFFF May 18 (rain date May 19). Bring your hand work to share with the public as this is one of our annual demo days to introduce the hand needle arts to the public.
