For the past four years, the North Fork Project team has been researching the history of slavery here. In their illustrated presentation, members of the team, Amy Folk and Richard Wines, will lay out the history of slavery on the North Fork from the earliest settlements until New York State abolition in 1827. An estimated 550 people were enslaved during that time and the team will share these individuals’ stories with an emphasis on enslavers and enslaved in the communities surrounding Hallockville Museum Farm.
