Instructor Bio: Vivien Pollack has over 30 years in the industry as a Textile Designer, Silk Painter and Teacher. Experience includes designing for the textile print industry and creating original designs that were sold to manufacturers. She learned how to paint on silk while designing for a design studio in N.Y.C and fell in love with the medium. She has since exhibited her award winning silk art in galleries and shows on Long Island as well as Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maryland, (including the Dennis and Philip Ratner Museum, University of Maryland and the Sandy Springs Museum), the Hecksher Museum in Huntington and the Long Island Museum at Stony Brook, N.Y. Her award winning silk paintings have been published in the New York Times and in the book “The Best of Silk Painting “by Tuckman and Janas and in the L.I. Village Connection Magazine. Vivien now sells her hand-painted silk scarves online in her Etsy shop Vivien Pollack Design. She teaches at the Art League of Long Island, silk painting and shibori scarf painting techniques. She has also taught in libraries and has been a demonstrator for organizations. Vivien also enjoys plein air painting with oils. She is also a member of the Huntington Arts Council, Long Island Art League, Independent Art League and Silk Painters International. She enjoys sharing the techniques she has learned over the years with others.
