VIEW INTRODUCTION SCRIPT

Welcome to Hallockville. This is Roberta Shoten, executive director of the Museum Farm. Like most farms in the 19th century, the Hallock farm was a model of sustainable living. Almost nothing was ever wasted or thrown away. Everything got recycled or reused. Do you find this hard to believe?

We invite you to follow these signs with QR codes around the Hallock Farm. You will meet Halsey Hallock as well as members of the Hallock family and others who worked on the farm. They will tell you about the many sustainable practices they followed. We hope they will help you think about your own lifestyle today.

It’s best to start at the #1 sign in the Old Orchard between the Hudson-Sydlowski House Visitor Center and the Homestead Barn. A map of the trail is available in our visitor center. You can also access our Sustainability Trail as a virtual walking tour by visiting www.hallockville.com/sustain-trail.

Enjoy the trail.
