SUMMARY:Hallockville Hootenanny
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 15 from noon to 7 p.m. \nJoin us for a Free afternoon of music with five live bands\, food trucks\, vendors and more. \n  \nErnie & The Band: \nSince 2017\, The Band has grown a large loyal community of “Ernies” on Long Island. In 2023\, Ernie & The Band took their show on the road and began gathering new Ernies around the Northeast US. Their live show pays homage to classic acts like The Grateful Dead\, Allman Brothers and Phish\, while focusing on their growing catalog of original music and incorporating plenty of danceable improvisation. Their goal is to positively move as many people as they can physically & emotionally\, to grow the ever-expanding Erniverse…\n  \nMr. Rooster: \nMR. ROOSTER is a swingin’ rockin’\, and sometimes bluegrassin’ jam band from Long Island. Formed by Tom Bauer and Dave Ferro\, MR. ROOSTER have established themselves among the top\, rising bands within the Long Island and NYC jam scenes. MR. ROOSTER’s music is inspired by the classics\, but surprisingly fresh. It features tight vocal harmonies\, soaring lead guitars\, and their own special brand of musical hijinks. \n  \nDysfunktone: \n\nDysfunktone was formed in a garage in East Rockaway\, New York. What began from a shared interest in funky music\, sushi\, and noise complaints\, evolved over time into a full-fledged Groove Jam Rock outfit that pushes the boundaries of genre and sound as far as they possibly can. \nDysfunktone is best known for their complex musical arrangements\, huge dynamic changes at the drop of a dime\, and ability to weave extended improvisational sequences into any song in their catalogue\, as well as their unique interpretations of the music of their many various influences. \nWith a strong desire to spread their Long Island sound\, Dysfunktone has toured all over the Northeast; sharing the stage with artists such as Dopapod\, TAUK\, Spafford\, Lespecial\, Magic Beans\, Dirtwire\, Kitchen Dwellers\, Consider the Source\, and many more. \nWestlake: \nWestlake is a five-piece rock band from Oceanside\, New York\, specializing in extended improvised jams\, genre blending and covering some of the best music we know and love. Started as a Grateful Dead / Phish cover band\, the band has grown to cover all sorts of genres and bands. One of our on going themes is staying true to our roots of Grateful Dead / Jam band ways no matter what song we are playing. We are extremely excited to get back to our roots with a full Grateful Dead set at the Hallockville Hootenanny! \nPurely Green: \nPurely Green is a local alternative band from western Long Island\, our music blends raw sound and pretty arrangements to create a scene or a story. However this year at the Hallockville Hootenanny we will be performing covers\, paying homage to one of our favorite bands Steely Dan. We have really challenged ourselves with this set and hope you come see it yourself at the Hallockville Hootenanny on August 15th!

SUMMARY:The True Story of the Culper Spy Ring Presentation - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Learn the true story of the Culper Spy Ring from former Newsday reporter Bill Bleyer\, author of George Washington’s Long Island Spy Ring: A History and Tour Guide. Over the years\, there have been many legends\, such as the role played by Anna Strong’s clothesline\, and speculations about how the spies operated to support George Washington’s Continental Army.  This PowerPoint presentation separates facts from fiction and details the ingenious operation of the intelligence network that helped the Patriots win the war. \nFree\, but registration is requested.
